Dear Kallie,
Leaving you is never easy, even if it’s only for a few minutes. It has now been a few days since we drove you to St. Louis to live with your grandparents, and we're still getting used to you not being in the house. Every time we come home, we still expect to see you at the door and mentally prepare for our walk until we remember. We’ll miss your diva attitude and constant cuddles. It will be weird to eat a meal and not look down and see those beautiful brown eyes staring back up at us. We think if you stared at us long enough you could convince us to do anything. It's a little sad, but we remind ourselves that at that moment you're likely burrowing for moles, chasing squirrels, and generally enjoying country life.
This year is going to be full of freedom, exciting things and new places for us, and if we could take you with us there’s no question that we would. And we hope you enjoy your year of freedom too! We are so happy that you’ll get to spend the year with your grandparents. They are going to spoil you more than you know. You’ll also be helping to heal their broken hearts. They miss their dog, Maddie, and having you greet them at the door after a day of work will warm their hearts everyday. We know you're in the best hands possible and likely enjoying the process of wrapping a whole new set of humans around your finger. We can't wait to be back with the big baby girl on our laps.
We love you,
Mom + Dad
